Grey-Zone Systems can get you connected. While we don’t sell Internet service, we can help you decide which Internet solution best meets your needs, help you find a suitable service provider, and provide installation support to configure your computer to access it.
To connect to the Internet you will need the following: · A Web Browser (such as Internet Explorer—already on your computer) · A Modem · An ISP (Internet Service Provider) such as Sympatico, Rogers, ADVNET, Primus · A connection medium between your modem and the ISP (e.g. phone line)
There are two primary methods to connect to the Internet for home use · Dial-up—over your telephone line · Broadband or high-speed connection—over your telephone line or cable TV
Dial Up Internet |
High-Speed Internet |
· Speeds up to 56Kb/s over standard telephone line · When connected to the Internet you can’t use your phone to talk (callers hear a busy signal when you are “on-line”). · Inexpensive service—good for casual user |
· Speeds from 256Kb/s to 6000Kb/s over telephone line or cable TV cable · Does not tie up your telephone, you can talk when on the Internet · Slightly more expensive than dial-up, recommended for more frequent use · Not available everywhere |
